Decorative Plaster

Replicating decorative plaster cornice pieces for the 19th century Italianate residence turned museum, The Moore-Hornor House in Helena, Arkansas.

Existing plaster pieces were carefully removed to use as masters in the mold-making process. They were repaired with plaster, sealed with shellac, and cast into a box of liquid rubber. After the proper cure time, the master pieces were removed from the mold leaving a void into which liquid plaster was cast to create replicas.

The replica pieces were installed where original pieces had fallen out and broken. The masters and molds were turned over the museum curator so that more replica pieces can easily be fabricated when future damages occur.
